An 'Almost Perfect' Crime
NOTE: This story purely fiction like the rest of my stories, please don't come after me!!
I woke up reluctantly on a bitter morning. Eyes closed, I lazily washed my face, but I couldn’t help but notice an awfully weird smell. I ignored it at first, but the smell only got stronger.
I opened my eyes to see blood, more like blood diluted in water, flowing from the tap.
I took a step back, letting out a soft gasp. I suppose everyone was up early because before I knew it, a cacophony of screams erupted as if orchestrated by ghouls.
Everyone from my apartment bombarded the oblivious maintenance worker with complaints and questions. To the maintenance worker’s shock, bless his heart, he found two bodies dumped in the water tank in a gruesome state. He stumbled back and fell into hysterics.
Soon, police officers and paramedics frantically paced the scene, blocking the area and investigating. I got a glimpse of the young couple getting loaded onto stretchers.
How pathetic.
Their life ended well before it started. They were around my age.
Everyone was instructed to stay in their houses and avoid leaving. Well, there goes my plans to go to medical college today.
A post mortem was to be conducted on the bodies. The autopsy report revealed that the girl died first due to blood loss by being stabbed in the stomach multiple times.
However, the boy’s state gave everyone goosebumps.
His chest, looked as if it was scavenged by a pack of hyenas, was first cut open with a knife, with surgical precision. His rib cage was demolished and his heart was missing. The suspect ‘surgically’ removed his heart.
The boy and girl were covered in scars alike.
Everyone was mortified, wondering if they would be the next victim, sheltering and protecting their families like it was the end of the world.
Don’t know what they were frantic about. The victims don’t even reside in our apartment.
Apparently, the iron rod that was used to kill the boy was found and the fingerprints resembled the ones from someone in my home. Didn't say who, but just barged in saying the suspect might be here.
They scrambled through our home searching every nook and corner. They finally reached the freezer where they were welcomed with a horrifying sight.
A disfigured human heart which had been thoroughly smashed stored in a plastic zip lock bag.
Now, whose fingerprints were they? Oh yes, they were mine.
All eyes were on me.
Oh please, what now?
He stole my heart and smashed it apart.
So, I did the same to him! :)
